The island capital Fort de France is a taste of Paris, tropical style, while in the south, Port de Plaisance is the island's largest and best equipped marina. The coastline offers a string of sheltered fishing harbours, in the shadow of the island’s twin peaks, volcanic Mont Pelée and Les Pitons du Carbet, their lower slopes carpeted in lush forest and exotic, brightly coloured tropical fruits and flowers. As if in contrast, the beaches are black and white – black volcanic sand in the north, and Caribbean white powder elsewhere. Keen sailors will head off to explore neighbouring islands – St Lucia, perhaps, or Dominica – but for most of us, Martinique will do very nicely, merci!

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
