Bidding war for three Maltese yachting marinas
Aug 12th, 2009
Three government-owned yacht marinas in Malta are to be sold off to private bidders. The Privatisation Unit, which is handling the sales, has confirmed that it has received 12 bids for the three marinas.
Msida Yachting Centre, Ta Xbiex Yachting Centre Pontoons and Mgarr (Gozo) Marina are the mooring areas in question and will be offered on a 25 years contract. After which they will return to being the property of the Maltese government.
The sale of the three marinas will mean that the winning bidder will be charged with upgrading the fittings on the quays with modern water and electricity equipment and develop and manage the service of the facilities.
Malta has long been an area of interest to those chartering yachts, due to its beautiful waters and mainland attractions.
The Maltese islands are home to attractions such as Calypso's Cave and a host of architecturally exquisite examples of renaissance cathedrals and Baroque palaces.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
