Oracle confirms America's Cup yacht
Aug 12th, 2009
BMW Oracle Racing has named the vessel that it will be using to compete in the 2010 America's Cup.
The team plans to use BOR 90, a 90-foot trimaran, that has been built using carbon composite and has taken more than130,000 man hours so far to complete.
It has a 6,800-square-feet main sail and an 8,400-square-foot gennaker.
Larry Ellison, who funds the team, said: "We are pushing ourselves to our limit and we're discovering what the boat can do and what we can do as a team.
"If we've done our job well, we'll go out and race this boat and win the America's Cup."
Skipper and chief executive of Oracle Racing Russell Coutts noted that the design of the vessel is "pushing the envelope right out to the extreme".
He also noted that the controversy that has surrounded the 33rd America's Cup regarding the rules of the competition has been "unfortunate".

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
