Jack Vettriano inspired by yachts
Aug 17th, 2009
One of Scotland's most revered artists Jack Vettriano has revealed in an interview that he is going to turn his focus to yachts. The painter, who is most famous for his sumptuous and often sexy depictions of men and women, told the Times that he is going to begin painting yachts and images of the sea.
However, he also said that he will add his unique styling to the imagery and fans should not simply expect to see "blue sea, blue sky and a yacht cutting through the waves".
Describing one of his new works of art, he told the newspaper: "I loved the yacht club's dining room, but I wouldn't paint an empty room. So what I have done is what I do with all my paintings; create a narrative.
"You have a woman dining on her own, with two wine glasses, and two napkins, so you know something is going on."
In 2004 a Vettriano painting entitled the Singing Butler was sold at Sotheby's for almost £750,000.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
