Southampton Boat Show ticket sales surge

Southampton Boat Show ticket sales surgeConstruction for next month's Southampton International Boat Show is underway and ticket sales are said to be up on last year, it has been revealed.

The Southern Daily Echo reports that organisers of the yachting event have reported t a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in ticket sales.

So far 6,000 have been purchased, which is up from a much more modest 1,800 at the relative time before the 2008 event.

It was also confirmed that the marinas around Southampton that will play host to the yacht spectacular are now under construction.

Frank Dixie of show sponsor PSP said: "In just three short weeks the show kicks off and this whole area will be bustling with boats, exhibitors and visitors.

"I'm always astounded at how much is done in such a short space of time in order to create the fantastic show that we all know and love, and I'm really looking forward to the ten days."

The event begins on September 11th and runs until September 20th.
