Edinburgh yacht saved by Coastguard
Aug 21st, 2009
A yacht that had come loose from its moorings had to be towed to safety yesterday (August 20th). The Edinburgh-based vessel was heading towards the Forth Rail Bridge when it was rescued.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard told the Edinburgh News: "We had no way of knowing whether this boat was occupied or not, so it was a fairly serious situation as it would have been badly damaged if it had struck the bridge.
"There was also a concern about it hitting another vessel and so we brought it under control."
The yacht broke free at around 14:00 (local time) and was rescued by the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat.
Edinburgh is a popular destination at this time of year thanks to the various festivals and activities that take place in the city.
As well as a number of events in August the Scottish capital has a varied and cosmopolitan feel all year round, with visitors able to enjoy the famous castle and large number of shops and restaurants.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
