The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has rescued two yachtsmen off the coast of Bangor, it has been announced. After an 18-hour ordeal in high winds and heavy rain their 27-foot yacht was towed to Bangor Marina.
The vessel of the stricken pair had experienced engine trouble before getting stranded in the Irish Sea.
One of the RNLI rescue crew Ewan Rathbone-Scott told the BBC: " We urge everyone going afloat to make sure their engine and electrical systems are well maintained and in good working order.
"We are glad these people are now safely ashore."
The crew were said to be exhausted but unharmed after their ordeal.
In associated news, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency recently issued an advisory regarding the importance of lifejackets at sea after Swansea Coastguard rescued a man who had fallen in the water between his boat and the harbour.
The man spent 20 minutes in the water and his lifejacket was said to be "critical" to his survival.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
