Clipper fleet forced into port

With the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race set to begin in little over two weeks, the fleet have been forced to dock in Brighton as they make their way to the Humber.This is Hull and east Riding.co.uk reports that after setting off from Gosport in Portsmouth, the ten vessels had to make port in Brighton after strong winds.
They will get back underway later in the week, the newspaper reports.
Before leaving Portsmouth, the Mayor of Gosport spoke of his pride to be part of the prestigious event.
He said: "I know that there is a strong international flavour to this race and that many of the overseas crew have been based in Gosport during your training.
"It's been a pleasure to welcome you here and I hope you have found your stay an enjoyable one."
The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race begins on September 13th and will last for ten months as the ten yachts travel 35,000 miles round the globe.
