Disabled yachtswoman sets solo sailing recordA 37-year-old disabled sailor has become the first quadriplegic woman to sail solo around the UK.

Hilary Lister, from Kent, sailed into Dover harbour today to set the record and has been hailed as "inspirational" by her spokesman Paul Taroni.

Ms Lister said: "I'm hugely proud of the team, the whole team, who worked so hard for four months without a day off. It's a privilege to be back in Dover. The killer was when the wind died just east of the entrance to the harbour but unbelievably it picked up just as I sailed in.

"We're going to have a meal for the whole crew tonight but we've got an early start in the morning," according to the Press Association.

Ms Lister used an advanced system that enabled her to operate her vessel by a system of sucking and blowing down tubes.

Oxford educated Lister, raised £30,000 for charity during her multi-leg voyage.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
