Dame Ellen MacArthur set for Southampton

The Southampton Boat Show draws ever nearer and the list of attractions for yachting fans grows ever larger with the announcement that Dame Ellen MacArthur will attend.Ms MacArthur will attend the show on September 11th as it welcomes the young crew of the Ellen MacArthur Trust Skandia Round Britain voyage, which has been on a 2,000 mile journey around the coast of Britain since May.
The crew are all recovering from various forms of cancer and Leukaemia and have joined and left the vessel at ports around the UK.
Managing director of National Boat Shows Andrew Williams said: "We're thrilled that this inspirational voyage will be visiting the Show.
"The courage and determination exemplified by Scarlet Oyster's young crew has been instrumental in the success of the voyage and in stimulating other cancer sufferers. NBS congratulates the crew and looks forward to welcoming them to Southampton."
Other star turns at the Southampton Boat Show will include singer Sophie Ellis Bextor who is set to officially open the show on September 11th.
