British pair wins silver at 49er sailing competitionPaul Brotherton and Mark Asquith claimed silver at the 49er European Championship sailing event in Zadar, Croatia this week.

The pair, who were competing together for the first time in six years, got off to a strong start finishing second only to the Italian team of Pietro and Gianfranco Sibello.

Austria's Nico Dell Karth and Nikolaus Resch completed the podium line-up, finishing Friday's (September 5th) race in third.

Brotherton, who coached Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson to Olympic victory in the Yngling class in Beijing, said: "I'm really pleased, considering we came here just to assess our training and with no outcome in mind."

Asquith added: "There are plenty of places where can still improve and work on, but it's great to know that Paul and I are still there."

The other British crew in the 10-boat race consisted of John Pink and Rick Peacock, who finished as silver medallists at the World Championship but were only able to come ninth in Zadar.

In other news, Dame Ellen MacArthur has confirmed that she will be in attendance at the Southampton Boat Show when it starts on September 11th.ADNFCR-2431-ID-19347907-ADNFCR

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
