'Enjoy the experience' of staying on a yacht
Sep 28th, 2009
A national newspaper has explored the merits of holidaying aboard a yacht. The Observer examined the services of one of the many companies offering accommodation in moored vessels around the world.
It explained that customers of Stays Afloat get to stay onboard a private yacht, but are unable to take it out to sea.
Those wishing to experience the ocean air may wish to charter a luxury yacht, but the newspaper explained that holidaymakers looking for a taster of the lifestyle may wish to try spending a weekend aboard a sloop in a marina.
The article's author stayed in a 64-ft Beneteau called Knightime and explained how he enjoyed breakfast on deck, basking in the Devon sunshine.
Later, he hired a separate motorboat and took a trip up the River Dart to the Ferry Boat Inn in Dittisham.
"We tie up the boat and drink Cornish ale while listening to a band, before returning to Knightime, to sit out the day on deck, reading the paper and raising a glass to fellow members of the yacht-owning elite as they pass by," he described.
More intrepid sailors may wish to charter a luxury super yacht and head off on an adventure.
Those doing so could explore the rugged Brittany Coast of northern France, or head south to the warmer Cote d'Azur.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
