UK sailing team looks to break recordA UK-based team of sailors is hoping to break the outright speed sailing record in Namibia over the coming weeks.

Vestas Sailrocket has a 28-day window in which to achieve its goal in what will be the vessel's final attempt at the record of 51.38 knots.

An attempt yesterday (October 6th) ended in disaster when the vessel caught a "freak" wave when travelling at around 49 knots.

Describing the result, Paul Larsen - who was sailing the sailboat at the time - said it performed a full mid-air flip and landed upside down in the water.

He explained the vessel was undamaged apart from some small details and a torn flap.

However, Mr Larsen added that "it just refuses to die" after so many attempts at being the fastest sailboat on the planet.

The expert estimated it will take up to ten days to get Vestas Sailrocket back on the water and stated that he is confident the record can be broken.

Walvis Bay is the only deep sea harbour in Namibia and is the location where the team hopes to break the record.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
