Man with 'world's greatest job' to tour islands
Oct 12th, 2009
The man who was awarded what was claimed to be the greatest job on earth will this week begin a tour of the southern islands of the Great Barrier Reef.Ben Southall, who won a competition to become Tourism Queensland's island caretaker, will spend much of his time snorkelling, fishing and bushwalking, the organisation revealed.
"I've seen the northern islands of the Great Barrier Reef and I'm really excited to see the differences between the two regions," Mr Southall explained.
Like the Caribbean, the waters off the coast of Queensland are populated with lush islands, with lots of flora and fauna for visitors to marvel at.
Those planning on chartering a luxury yacht to explore the Caribbean archipelago can expect to see a variety of wildlife on their island stopovers.
However, those wishing to see the area's coral reefs may have to act fast after a study carried out by the University of East Anglia earlier this year discovered large sections have become damaged and are disappearing due to climate change.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
