Dominicans upset over new beach lawsResidents in the Dominican Republic have reportedly been angered by a new constitutional amendment that allows private property owners to buy parts of beaches and rivers.

A number of disgruntled Dominicans turned up in beach wear with surfboards and coolers outside congress on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

The protesters reportedly chanted: "The beaches belong to the people, not to businessmen."

Visitors to the Caribbean destination are greeted with turquoise waters and white sandy beaches, but locals are worried that they could lose access to these assets if investors privatise them.

Brits looking to visit the island might decide to do so aboard a chartered luxury yacht, rather than staying in a hotel.

An example of the type of vessel they could hire is the stunning Cookielicious sailboat - an Oyster 72 which sleeps up to six people.

The luxury yacht has its own wakeboard, waterskis and windsurf equipment, as well as a 13 ft 50hp dinghy.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
