Watson yacht record bid held up by weather

Watson yacht record bid held up by weatherThose chartering a luxury yacht usually choose to head somewhere with a great climate, but it is the weather that is curtailing a young sailor's world record attempt in Australia.

Jessica Watson - a 16-year-old Queensland resident - is hoping to become the youngest person ever to sail around the world non-stop and unassisted.

She hit headlines earlier this year after crashing her yacht into a 63,000-tonne cargo vessel on a ten-day trial run.

However, with all repairs completed and Ella's Pink Lady - her 33-ft sailboat - ready to go, it is just the conditions that are holding her up.

"After so many years of preparations it would be a pity to send her out in inclement weather," spokesman Scott Young told AAP.

He added that the team is using the time to double-check everything is in place, and said that although Ms Watson is keen to depart, she is being mature about the delay and accepting advice from her support staff.

Brits chartering a luxury yacht to enjoy some Caribbean weather this winter may consider the Seazen II.

The 70-ft Sunreef sailboat could be the perfect accommodation for up to ten guests as they cruise around the archipelago.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
