Watson embarks on round-the-world record attempt

Young yacht record hopeful Jessica Watson has finally embarked on her round-the-world sailing trip. The 16-year-old Australian is hoping to become the youngest ever sailor to circumnavigate the globe non-stop without assistance.
She left Sydney on Sunday, despite mixed opinions on whether the sailing prodigy should be allowed to attempt the feat.
Some fear her inexperience may be a danger after her 33-ft yacht Ella's Pink Lady collided with a Chinese coal ship on a trial run last month.
However, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau was satisfied that Ms Watson was capable of making the voyage after discussing a number of points with her.
"We took her down to an oil tanker to give her the perspective of a bridge watch keeper on [such] a ship so she can understand some of the limitations associated with operating a ship and indeed the equipment onboard a ship," spokesman Peter Foley told AFP.
While sailing the treacherous seas that lie before Ms Watson may not appeal to many amateurs, the French Riviera and Caribbean might offer a more tranquil environment.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
