Caribbean tourist operators 'suffering due to recession'
Oct 23rd, 2009
Those embarking on a luxury yacht charter in the Caribbean this winter may find that the beaches and attractions are quieter than normal.According to the Jamaican Observer, the eddect of the financial downturn has impacted the archipelago's tourism industry.
It quoted Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association chief executive and director-general Alec Sanguinetti as saying that almost every destination has seen a fall in tourist numbers.
"Several countries have reported double-digit declines in visitor arrivals compared to the previous year and, in the few countries which have recorded slight increases (four at most), actual expenditure has declined due to heavy discounting," he stated.
While this may be bad news for tourism operators, it could be positive for those planning a chartered yacht holiday aboard a vessel such as the Mauni.
The 31.5-ft sloop from Sunreef comes with two crew members and sleeps up to six guests.
Atmospheric deck lighting makes the exterior of the luxury yacht ideal for a romantic meal at night, while the well-lit interior is stylishly furnished to allow holidaymakers to relax in comfortable surroundings.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
