Cowes Week to get more support
Jul 1st, 2009
Cowes Week Limited and Cowes Combined Clubs are to be given more support by the Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC) after the event failed to secure a main sponsor. The regatta which has run since 1826 has struggled to attract a title sponsor due to the difficult economic situation at the moment.
However, the CHC has pledged that its commercial operating services will be the official sponsor of the week long boating special as well as offering free fire support for the firework show which is due to take place on Friday August 7th.
During the regatta which runs from August 1st to the 8th, more than 1,000 vessels will race.
The current economic climate will mean that the CHC will not be holding its annual Cowes Week reception, as it has favoured offering the sponsorship support.
Commissioners for the harbour were keen to insist that the extra help has been offered to the sailing spectacular because of its importance to the local harbour economy.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
