Welsh yacht harbour calls out for investment

Welsh yacht harbour calls out for investmentWhile chartering a luxury yacht in the Caribbean may be the ideal winter break, a Welsh harbour is appealing for funding to keep it operational.

According to BBC News, Conwy needs more than £220,000 to keep it the yacht harbour of choice in north Wales.

The harbourmaster has written to the local council to explain that the area needs to be dredged and a jetty replaced after recent modifications to the quay caused certain areas to silt up more easily.

Tony Mead warned that yacht owners could look elsewhere for moorings if the issue was not resolved soon and recommended a number of short-term and long-term fixes, totalling upwards of £220,000.

"The potential loss of use of the inner mooring pontoon as a yacht berthing facility will cause considerable dissatisfaction amongst the relevant permit holders and may lead to them removing their vessels," Mr Mead told the news provider.

He said the loss of revenue and custom would affect not only the harbour, but the town as a whole.

Those who do wish to sail the Caribbean rather than Welsh waters could charter the luxury motor yacht CaryAli, which sleeps up to six guests and has a crew of four, including a personal chef.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
