Futuristic hybrid catamaran offers green choice
Jul 2nd, 2009
A solar-hybrid yacht is about to make waves in the boating world if not for it's green credentials then maybe for its appearance. The Code X yacht is surely one of the most extreme design concepts unveiled this year - looking like a cross between a luxury catamaran and a spaceship.
Propulsion for the yacht comes from two electric engines - which can be charged by solar power - as well as two V10 F1 combustion engines that will give the vessel a kick.
The company claim: "CODE-X unites radical purism, the optimal benefit of renewable energy and the sheer power of a racing machine in one boat.
"A flexible solar hybrid propulsion system enables both quiet, environmentally friendly cruising in ports and coastal areas as well as the pleasure of high speeds on open waters."
New details are set to be announced by the company this year and it says that an estimated price will be supplied to serious buyers.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
