Madoff's yachts hit auction block
Nov 17th, 2009
A trio of yachts once belonging to Bernard Madoff have gone to auction in the US, although photographs show they are far removed from the luxury charter vessels available for sailing in the Caribbean. The largest of the three is the 55-ft Rybovich, which was built in 1969 and designed for sport fishers.
While it has been restored to a good level, the vessel seems to lack the pizzazz of yachts like the Matelot or Sea Bass II, which can both be chartered in the tropical archipelago.
The convicted Ponzi scammer's former vessels went to auction yesterday (November 16th) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, seven months after they were seized by the US Marshals Service.
Those planning a luxury charter yacht trip in the Caribbean have a range of possible destinations and sites to visit.
Among the better known include Antigua, Jamaica, St Kitts, Cuba and Haiti, while there are also numerous smaller islands waiting to be explored.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
