Yas Marina circuit impresses in first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Nov 20th, 2009
While the drivers' and constructors' championship titles might have already been decided, the spectacular design of the Yas Marina circuit, coupled with its day-night setting, ensured the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix did not go unnoticed. As well as providing some exciting wheel-to-wheel action - particularly involving 2009 drivers' champion Jenson Button - the event also proved popular with yacht charter customers due to the circuit's proximity to the marina.
The race itself was won by RBR-Renault's Sebastian Vettel, who set a new lap record of 1:40.279 and completed the entire 305.47km course in 1:34:03.414.
Meanwhile, Button did not hold back and managed to claim a podium position by finishing third.
Sadly for UK fans, fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton was forced to retire from the race due to problems with his brakes.
Button was pipped to second place by Australian Mark Webber, who finished less than a second in front and 17.8 seconds behind Vettel.
With the 2009 championship being decided in the penultimate race, Yas Marina Circuit could play a prominent role in the 2010 competition, hosting the second last race of the season on the weekend of October 29th to 31st.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
