Luxury yacht charter customers to glimpse Caribbean in new dramaThose planning a luxury yacht charter trip to the Caribbean could get themselves in the mood by watching a BBC adaptation of a novel set in the tropical archipelago.

Andrea Levy's Small Island used both British and Caribbean backdrops to paint a picture of life during and after World War II.

The new mini-series begins on Sunday (December 6th) at 21:00 GMT on BBC One, with the concluding part shown the following weekend.

It explores a number of themes, including prejudice against the Jamaican protagonist, who moves to the UK after serving there during the war.

Played by David Oyelowo, main character Gilbert is forced to adapt quickly to his new surroundings, which are less welcoming than he imagined.

"It wasn't made clear to Britons that these people were encouraged to come and help rebuild the country. It felt like an influx threatening their rights and jobs," the actor told BBC News, describing what Caribbean immigrants would have experienced in the late 1940s.

Jamaica is one of the larger Caribbean islands and a popular luxury yacht charter destination.

According to Visit Jamaica, the nation's culture is a hotpot of African, European and Asian flavours.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
