Luxury yacht charter destination to host carnival
Dec 3rd, 2009
Luxury yacht charter customers heading to the Dominican Republic early next year could take part in one of the Caribbean destination's oldest traditions.El Carnaval de La Vega has been running since the earliest European settlers arrived on the island in the early 16th century.
Taking place in the run up to February 27th, what originally started as a pre-Lenten festival eventually transformed into a celebration of the nation's independence.
Those arriving by luxury yacht charter can expect the month of February to be filled with weekend carnivals, many of which are based in and around the town of La Vega.
As well as enjoying the colourful costumes and music, guests can sample local food and drink while they party down in the Caribbean.
According to the ministry of tourism, Saturday (December 5th) marks the 517th anniversary of the discovery of the Dominican Republic by Christopher Columbus.
The island was already inhabited by the Taino Indians, who made the Spanish sailors welcome.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
