Writer enjoys camping in luxury yacht charter destinationWrA writer for a popular US newspaper has recounted his experiences of a camping trip on the Caribbean island of St John.

Benji Lanyado wrote in the New York Times that life on the island is carried out in a truly relaxed fashion, with even the iguanas seeming to take their time as if they do not have a care in the world.

Located around 1,000 miles east of Miami, St John is one of the three main US Virgin Islands in the tropical archipelago.

Mr Lanyado explained that the reason he and his party chose to stay in a tent was due to the lack of campsites in the Caribbean and wishing to find out what the experience was like.

St John, however, boasts a plethora of places to stay under canvas, due in part to its massive national park, which takes up two-thirds of the land.

The writer explained how he and his group enjoyed taking their time to explore the tropical island and revealed how it offered a "wholesome, rather than hippy" atmosphere.

Those wishing to visit St John on a luxury yacht charter can find it east of Puerto Rico and north-west of St Kitts.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
