Caribbean luxury yacht charter destination gets GPS
Dec 9th, 2009
While the Caribbean island of Jamaica may be popular among luxury yacht charter customers, those exploring the island have been unable to do so properly without a map or local knowledge. However, that may be about to change after the tropical archipelago's first satellite navigation device was released, South Florida Caribbean News revealed.
Known as JAMNAV, the GPS navigation system is the product of the Mona GeoInformatics Institute at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
Similar to the devices available in the UK, the unit gives voice and visual instructions on a turn-by-turn basis, allowing users to navigate around 9,300 miles of road.
There are more than 15,000 points of interest pre-programmed into the product, which will allow drivers to get where they are going without getting lost.
More than 150 attractions are also included in the unit, so those who know what they want to see while in Jamaica can just punch in the location and go.
According to VisitJamaica.com, the temperature in Kingston is currently (December 9th at 11:00 GMT) a balmy 24 degrees C.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
