Tanzania to copy popular luxury yacht charter destination
Dec 10th, 2009
The president of Tanzania has suggested that his country could learn a lot from a popular luxury yacht charter destination.Jakaya Kikwete recently spent a week in the Caribbean, visiting a number of the tropical archipelago's islands, eTurbo News revealed.
The leader explained how Tanzania could benefit from taking a leaf out of the Caribbean's tourism activities.
President Kikwete said that his country's beaches - which stretch for almost 1,000 km - are an unexplored and unexploited natural resource that could prove a big attraction to travellers and tourists.
"I was very impressed by tourism in Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba and Jamaica," he said.
Wildlife-based excursions have been the major pull for 95 per cent of the country's 950,000 tourists in 2009, but Mr Kikwete wishes to use the long, sandy beaches to expand that number.
Tanzania is located south of Kenya and north of Mozambique, while the Democratic Republic of Congo lies to the west.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
