Luxury yacht charter destination attracts 'affluent types'

Brits planning a summer luxury yacht charter to the Italian Riviera are likely to be in affluent company, it has been suggested.According to the Italian State Tourist Board, it is the more well-off UK citizens that tend to enjoy holidays in the southern European country during the warmer months.
Spokesperson Stefania Gatta explained that the nation has cultural attractions that draw in those with good taste.
"They go to Italy to go to the opera, short breaks, or to get some wine," she said.
"However, we have had less numbers [of British tourists] this year - we are minus two per cent on last year."
The Italian State Tourist Board is currently looking to promote the country as a whole, rather than region by region as has traditionally been the case, Ms Gatta added.
Popular yacht charter destinations on the Italian Riviera include Portofino, Bordighera and Genoa.
