Young Dutch sailor found in yacht charter destinationA 14-year-old Dutch girl who was denied the chance to attempt the world record for becoming the youngest person ever to single-handedly circumnavigate the globe has been found after going missing over the weekend.

However, young sailor Laura Dekker was a long way from home, with police confirming she has been located in the popular yacht charter destination of the Caribbean.

The youngster, who spent the first four years of her life on a yacht after being born on her parents' vessel in New Zealand's waters, is currently in the Netherlands Antilles - a self-governing group of Caribbean islands that form part of the Dutch kingdom.

"We are doing everything we can to make sure we can get her back," Utrecht police spokesman Bernhard Jens said.

Ms Dekker went missing at the weekend and was earlier this year put under the supervision of child care authorities after being refused permission to embark on her sailing expedition.

How she got to St Maarten is still a mystery, as her own yacht was left at its moorings in The Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Jessica Watson - a young Australian girl - is currently in the middle of an attempt to break the record Ms Dekker had been aiming for.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
