Ferrari World and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix fuel demand for luxury yacht marina berths
Jul 22nd, 2010
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park, is due to launch just before the second F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, taking place on 14 November 2010.
Bernie Ecclestone, President of Formula One, has described the Yas Marina Circuit as “one of the most exciting tracks I have ever seen,”
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is set to be one of the signature features of Yas Island, a 2,500 hectare island dedicated to leisure, entertainment and lifestyle. on the North East side of the mainland just 10 minutes’ drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport
Worldwide media attention for these two events has doubtless fuelled the demand for berths in the stunning new Yas Marina, as there are very few still remaining.
Chris Yates, MD of UK luxury yacht charter specialists Dream Marine says: “The best way to enjoy all the excitement of the Grand Prix is from your super yacht, moored in this fantastic new marina right alongside the circuit. It reminds me a great deal of the Monaco Grand Prix, and now the added attraction of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi on the doorstep makes it an unmissable fixture in our clients’ calendars – especially for the real 'petrol-heads'! They’ll need to hurry though - it looks like we’re the last people with any availability, and within a week we’ll have sold out too.”
“Amazingly they’re planning to have six marinas in total around Yas Island – but for me, this seems likely to always be the one to be seen in!”
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is a spectacular new attraction in its own right - the first ever Ferrari theme park with over 20 of the world’s most inventive rides and attractions. Its sleek, 200,000-square-metre red roof was inspired by the iconic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body, with the largest Ferrari logo ever created, featuring Enzo Ferrari’s famous Prancing Horse.
The interior is a fantasy world of colourful landscaped areas, representing the beautiful Italian countryside, with an enormous crystal-glazed funnel at its heart, and Ferrari’s most iconic cars are dramatically showcased throughout the park.
Galleria Ferrari will be the world’s largest Ferrari gallery outside Maranello with an interactive display of cars from 1947 through to the present, while Made in Maranello offers a unique opportunity to go behind the doors of the famous Ferrari factory in Maranello; a privilege previously only enjoyed by Ferrari owners.
For high-octane adrenaline addicts, the G-Force ride blasts you through the red roof, before dropping like a stone from a hair-raising height of 62 metres, simulating the G-force experienced by Grand Prix drivers. For a truly turbo-charged Ferrari experience, there's Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest roller coaster, with an incredible top speed of 240km/hour. Daredevils can indulge their competitive streak on the Fiorano GT Challenge, where two F430 Spider coaster cars battle for dominance on the track.
Families will enjoy the sights and sounds of Italy’s mountains, villages, vineyards and forests on Viaggio in Italia. They can escape on a 4-D adventure through deep green jungles to icy caves and ravines, from the bottom of the ocean to the mouth of a fiery volcano - settings where no Ferrari has ever gone before - on the Speed of Magic ride, or take the V12 ride through the grill of a Ferrari 599 and marvel at the intricacy of the engine, dwarfed by the oversized components, before being fired out of the exhaust.
At the Ferrari Academy children can practise their driving skills on the Junior GT before stepping up to race in Ferrari F1™ cars at the Junior Grand Prix. Younger children will love the Junior Training Camp soft play area.
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi also offers a range of Ferrari-inspired restaurants and cafes serving guests exclusive Italian dishes, and two unique retail outlets: the world’s largest Ferrari store, and a unique ‘past and present’ store, complete with a recreation of Enzo Ferrari’s first garage.
“There’s more to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi than the thrill of speed racing and powerful cars,” says Andy Keeling, Park Manager of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. “The park celebrates Ferrari’s past and present, and pays homage to its Italian roots in a bespoke and innovative way, from the stunning structure through to the attractions and various experiences offered. Each and every attraction at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi tells a piece of the legendary Ferrari story; the powerful cars, the racing triumphs, the technical innovation and the authenticity of the homeland that embraces all that rich history.”
“There are few leisure destinations in the world that can offer the awe-inspiring attractions Ferrari World Abu Dhabi has in store for its visitors,” Keeling concludes.
