Jul 14th, 2009
A vessel which is set to compete in this years Clipper round-the-world yacht race is going on display today at the Great Yorkshire Show. The 68-foot vessel is going to be available for public viewings at the agricultural event which runs from July 14th to 16th.
Getting the huge yacht onto dry land was a delicate process which involved dismantling its 90-foot mast and hauling it by road to the Great Yorkshire Showground.
Skipper Piers Dudin told hullandeast riding.co.uk: "I think this is a very exciting time for us. We want to go to the show and get people along to see the boat and speak to the crew about the race.
"I think it's important to raise the profile in this way. We have a very strong crew with a lot of home-grown talent."
The Hull & Humber is representing east Yorkshire in the Clipper race which sets of from the Humber on September 13th.
A fleet of ten stripped-down 68-footers, which are all identical in specification, will race over a 35,000 mile cause before returning to the Humber almost a full year later.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
