Howards' Way yacht sinks in HampshireFlying Fish, the 28-foot yacht which was used in the opening sequence of TV show Howards' Way has sunk at the entrance to the river Hamble.

The vessel, which was made famous in the BBC series, collided with another boat and sank quickly.

Hamble Lifeboat service was alerted to the incident and all four crew members were moved to safety.

Coxswain Andy Olden, from Hamble Lifeboat who was present at the scene, told the News: "It seems the two boats were just starting a race and the larger one turned into the side of the Flying Fish and hit it.

"It caused a hole under the waterline and began to sink quite quickly."

Divers quickly pulled the yacht to shallow waters in Warsash due to the position of the crash, which was said to be dangerous to other vessels.

Howards' Way was filmed on the river Hamble and the Solent and featured the lives of fictional members of the yachting community.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
