Celebrated broadcaster Cronkite loved to sailLegendary American TV anchor Walter Cronkite, who passed away on July 19th aged 92, is being remembered by the yachting community.

Mr Cronkite was a CBS anchor in the US and much loved personality whose catchphrase was "and that's the way it is".

He was also a keen yachtsman and the author of South by Southeast, the chronicle of his time sailing Wyntje, his yacht, from Chesapeake Bay to Key West.

A lunch aboard his luxury vessel was often auctioned, raising a large amount of money for charity.

"The amount grew almost every year," Art Buchwald told the Cape Cod Times.

The man who was dubbed 'the most trusted man in America' was also a regular to Martha's Vineyard, an Island off the coast of New England in the US, and tributes have been paid by many who knew him.

Ed Jerome, a friend of Mr Cronkite told Boston.com: "He just enjoyed the Vineyard immensely."

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
