Lifeboat heroes to be honoured after yacht rescueA five-man crew from RNLI Dunbar lifeboat are to be honoured for their part in rescuing a Swedish couple after their yacht sailed into bad weather.

The crew fought gail-force winds to rescue the couple off the coast of Dunbar and had to make three attempts to reach the vessel, according to the BBC.

A bronze medal for gallantry will now be presented to the crew, the first for Dunbar lifeboat in more than three decades.

Coxswain Gary Fairbairn said: "I am really honoured to be awarded the bronze medal because it's only the sixth medal, and the first in over 30 years, to be awarded to a crew member from Dunbar."

However, the coxswain was keen to give kudos to the whole crew.

"I've never encountered conditions like that. It's all about teamwork and my team was immense that day."

The RNLI is an organisation that provides safety patrols around Britain's coastline; it is funded entirely from charitable donations.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
