Chris Stanmore-Major to skipper Qingdao in Clipper 09-10The latest skipper in the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race has been named.

Torquay-born Chris Stanmore-Major will skipper the Qingdao, one of the ten yachts to take part in the 35,000 mile race.

Chris, who has been living in Hong Kong, said he had his "fingers crossed" and was hoping to "get the Chinese boat", Sail-world.com reports.

"I'm over the moon to be chosen and it's a real privilege to be involved with something as prestigious as the Clipper Race. It's something I've been working towards throughout my career and now that I'm here I'm really excited," he added.

There are now only four months to go to the prestigious race, which begins on September 13th from the Humber.

Other skippers have been confirmed as 27-year-old Australian Brenden Hall and 46-year-old Dorset resident Jan Ridd.

The race continues until July 2010 and is split into seven legs, although the ports that will be visited in between are yet to be confirmed.

Yacht Testimonials
"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
