Sails slashed at yacht club
Jul 27th, 2009
The mainsails on nine yachts at the Camel Estuary Youth Sailing Club were cut by vandals over the weekend, according to reports.Around £240 worth of damage was done to the vessels, and an event due to take place on Thursday may now be in jeopardy.
The charity leaves its boats on a beach in Rock, Cornwall, where they fell victim to the attack.
Tim Lunt, chairman of Camel Estuary Youth Sailing, told the BBC: "The mainsails were all slashed with what looks like a Stanley knife or something like that and all the sails are useless.
"It's just unbelievable that someone could do this and we have no clue as to the reason why they have targeted a charity which helps teach local children to sail."
The Camel Estuary Youth Sailing club was set up in 2006 by Sue Hudson and has been supported in part by the Royal Yachting Association's Onboard initiative.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
