Shortlist for 2009 European Yacht of the Year announced

The final shortlists have been announced for the 2009/10 European Yacht of the Year awards.Five categories are included in the prestigious accolades giving a wide scope for competition among yachting manufacturers.
Up for grabs are best Performance Cruiser, Family Cruiser, Luxury Cruiser, Multihull and Special.
The nominated yachts in all categories will now be tested by eleven prominent yachting journalists at Ijmuiden in the Netherlands and Barcelona in Spain.
Winners of the coveted awards will be announced at the Dusseldorf Boat Show in January 2010.
For those not wishing to wait that long, to feast their eyes on the best new yachts in the water, the Southampton Boat Show kicks off in Britain on September 11th.
Southampton Boat Show will be offering yachtsmen and women the opportunity to see the new Discovery Yachts 67 footer for the first time anywhere in the world.
The 67 is designed by naval architect Ron Holland and offers an inside navigation area with panoramic views of the ocean.
