A 58 metre solar-powered superyacht has been designed by a British student.Alastair Callender, who studied boat design at Coventry University, has created the Soliloquy, a luxury vessel which is powered by solar, wind, and Hybrid Marine Power Technology.
The vessel features Solarsails manufactured by Australian company Super Sailor Holdings and claims to operate at a zero emission capacity and with reduced running costs.
Soliloquy has radical looks which are also functional, housing more than 600 square metres of solar panels and huge pivoting solar panelled 'sails'.
Mr Callender told CNN: "I wanted to prove that eco-luxury no longer has to be an oxymoron and doesn't have to make a yacht more expensive.
"My generation is passionate about the planet and we've got to do all we can so that the earth can sustain us," he added. "At the same time, however, I am also passionate about superyachts."

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
