Goodison closes in on Laser titlePaul Goodison has moved one step closer to retaining his European Laser Crown after clinching victory in the latest round of competition in Sweden.

The Olympic-gold medalist won the only race of the day after the second event, which he was also leading, was cancelled.

If he seals the championship it will be his fifth straight triumph in the European

The Daily Mail reported that he said: "I led around the first maker by about 20 or 30 metres and just kept on extending it from there so that gave me a lot of confidence going into the second race.

"I was therefore a little bit disappointed to have the second one abandoned,"

He went on to say that it would be "difficult" for his challengers to usurp his lead due to the size of his lead in the championship.

Goodison won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics after narrowly missing out on a medal at the 2004 games.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.

Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
