Log boat back from the Bronze Age
Aug 11th, 2009
A group of historians and wood experts are due to recreate a 12-metre long log boat from the Bronze age. That is according to the BBC, which reports that the vessel will be carved out of a single tree trunk at Loch Tay in Scotland.
A Douglas Fir tree will provide the log as the builders aim to create a replica of a boat that may have been used 3,000 years ago.
The team also plans to employ the techniques that are believed to have been used by Bronze Age craftsmen three millennia ago.
Inspiration to attempt the feat came after a similar vessel was discovered in the loch, which is thought to have been made at around 1500 BC.
The Dover Bronze Age Boat Trust claims to own the world's oldest known seagoing vessel, a reconstruction of which is on show at Dover Museum.

"I would recommend Dream Marine to others. Everyone was easygoing and helpful. I didn’t mind who I talked to. It was all good. Shame having to come back to London afterwards.
Come on Chris… when’s the next one?"
